PHP Developer - IT / ITRMS

Our ITRMS Division is currently seeking to recruit a PHP Developer to join our team in Poole, Dorset. The PHP Developer will be responsible for all all aspects of front-end and backend web development within a small team.

The PHP developer will be expected to attend meetings with stakeholders, write technical specifications, develop and action best practice processes e.g. UAT; liaise with other IT specialists and sales teams to provide the best solutions for clients and the business. Working within a dynamic and mission critical environment, work will be to tight deadlines and there will be a requirement to rectify coding issues 24/7.

The primary roles of this position will require the successful candidate to:

  • Code in PHP and JavaScript
  • Maintain existing sites Web applications and site
  • Produce Functional Specifications
  • Work with IT Dept to ensure development conforms to QAT and platform security standards
  • Ensure deliverables are within time lines
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required

The successful applicant will be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Experience of object oriented programming / modular programming
  • SQL and MySQL databases
  • Understanding of MVC design patterns and frameworks
  • Front-end development including jQuery
  • Experience of the full software development lifecycle: from requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery Commercial experience in Web Application development and / or software development
  • Good levels of communication. Both written and verbal
  • Enthusiasm and an interest in all things technology
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Version control software (Subversion)
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge and problem-solving skills

It would be desirable for the successful candidate to have the following Qualifications and Experience:

  • Understanding of Ajax
  • Some knowledge of the Linux command line
  • Some knowledge of Mobile device - applications design and building for iPhone, Blackberry, Android
  • Experience of project auditing and helpdesk - (JIRA)
  • Automated software testing
  • Experience of the Agile Scrum System

This is a permanent, full time position with a competitive salary; to include 23 days of Annual Leave and all public holidays recognised in England.
