Traumatic Aggression Control Techniques (TACT)

Violence in the workplace is a serious safety and health issue. Its most extreme form, violence leading to murder, is the third highest cause of fatal occupational injury in the world.

Environmental conditions associated with workplace assaults have been identified and control strategies implemented in a number of work settings. Drum Cussac has developed guidelines and recommendations to reduce worker exposures to this hazard

TACT is a well-balanced course, which will teach you mental and physical skills to cope with violent encounters.

The course has two focuses on 2 key areas:

Psychological - which will help you understand aggressive people, how to defuse situations and give you the confidence to deal with them.

Physical - will teach you simple effective skills to breakaway restrain and protect yourself from an aggressor, using the minimum force necessary.

There are no certainties in life and TACT will not protect you from every situation.

What is suggested throughout this course is a collection of strategies, which will support your safety but will not ensure it. However regular training like this will maintain your awareness of the potential dangers in your work place.
