Training Courses

Maritime Security Officer (MSO)

Candidates will be provided with the Ship Security Officer's course (SSO), given information on Anti-Piracy Awareness and trained in STCW, including first aid, fire fighting and prevention, personal survival techniques, and personal and social responsibility.
This is provided as a package only. Please see alternative dates for the SSO and Anti-piracy courses if you wish to complete these separately and for more information on the STCW95 as a standalone please send an email to the address below. To be awarded the Ship Security Officer certificate you must meet the MCA entry requirement of having 12 months sea service in the Merchant Navy, Royal Navy or Royal Marines, on vessels of more than 80gt or 24m, or be able to show an equivalent level of seagoing experience and knowledge of ship operations. Candidates without this pre course experience will receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Designated Security Duties, to be upgraded to Ship Security Officer on completion of the entry requirements.
