Drum Cussac have designed and developed a variety of training courses to suit non-security and security personnel at all levels. Our training methodology follows the principles of instruction, discussion and practical application to inform and test the individual or group ensuring a thorough understanding of the subject matter.

Drum Cussac deliver tailored courses to suit specific requirements, mindful of constraints on staff, funding, location and time. The Drum Cussac training ethos is driven by the desire to provide and deliver the highest quality service and standards.

Counter Terrorism Security Awareness Training

Drum Cussac are specialists in the provision of Counter Terrorist (CT) security awareness training. With a unique consolidation of former members of the United Kingdom Security Service (MI 5) and Special Forces, Drum Cussac are able to provide exceptional training courses.

Hostile Environment

This training programme aims to provide personnel on assignment in challenging areas with skills and training to prevent and avoid contentious situations (preventative training). Drum Cussac recognises that in spite of taking precautions dangerous situations may develop and a proportion of the training concentrates on actions to take in the event of an incident (reactive training).

The following subjects are covered in the programme:

  • Situation Awareness. Allows staff to remain aware of their surroundings and offers advice on precautions to take to avoid confrontation in addition to providing guidance on actions to take in the event of an incident.
  • Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's), Mines and Unexploded Ordinance (UXO) Awareness. Identification of IED's mines and UXO in addition to potential booby-trap awareness is a critical skill. The module includes recognition and the actions to take when confronted with devices of potential explosive danger.
  • Driver Training. This concentrates on safe driving in adverse conditions, vehicle recovery and an element of evasive driving.
  • Contingency Planning, Risk and Crisis Management. This is designed to compliment the corporate-level activities for crisis management and provides field staff with some planning tools and considerations for actions to deal with an unexpected crisis. The module also offers field staff methodologies for immediate risk analysis.
  • Reaction to Kidnap. Provides field staff with an overview of the 4 stages of kidnap, and mitigation procedures.
  • Anti & Counter-surveillance. Instruction in the art of identifying potential indicators before an attack occurs.
  • Medical Training. Medical training deals with the identification and management of injury in a field setting. Care of the casualty and monitoring of vital signs to assist with more advanced medical treatment is covered.
  • TACT - Traumatic Aggression Control Techniques. Understanding aggression and how it affects people, with the aim to provide the knowledge and confidence to deal with violent situations
