Maritime Piracy Leads To Drum Cussac Expansion
Drum Cussac, the global business risk consultancy, has announced the growth and re-structuring of its leading maritime division to meet the increasing security demands from the global maritime market.
The company has been delivering protective security measures to vessels and off-shore installations for nearly 12 years and the new divisional structure sees further growth in the anti-piracy space with the deployment of full time teams to the Gulf of Aden.
The enlarged division – DC Maritime - will expand into the broader global maritime market and the move is designed to ensure the company maintains the edge as the leading maritime risk and security consultancy.
Drum Cussac’s owner and General Manager, Jeremy Stampa Orwin, said, “The company has a long established pedigree in developing and delivering a wide range of leading security products for the maritime market, particularly for super yachts, commercial shipping, offshore installations and ports.
“We have some of the most experienced maritime security personnel in the world and these changes reflect the increasing demand for our services.
“The restructuring represents a natural evolution to ensure that Drum Cussac Maritime has sufficient capacity and capability to see it continue to develop and prosper in line with our main consultancy business”
Paul Evans, a senior operations manager in Drum Cussac’s Oil & Gas division has been appointed overall manager at DC Maritime in Poole.
The enlarged division will have closer synergy to the main consulting arm of Drum Cussac and encompasses elements of maritime security consulting previously delivered by Drum Cussac’s Oil & Gas division.
Paul Evans said, “This additional capacity affords Drum Cussac Maritime the flexibility to develop, improve and project our existing services across a broader global footprint.
“Business in our West Africa, USA and Singapore offices is on the increase and we have to look to support this growth, at the same time as remaining focused on helping many of our established clients mitigate the risks from piracy and other maritime risk issues. For example, in the event of an act of piracy, DC has an organic 24/7 specialist maritime K&R response team. We can offer advice to clients on how to best react because, the most critical phase of any negotiations is the initial response. Unfortunately, if this is handled incorrectly, the consequences could have severe implications for the crew, vessel and resolution timeframe.”
“Unlike many of our competitors, we seek to offer a holistic solution that is backed up by a wealth of support services and a focused 24/7 operational response. We are one of only a few companies providing close protection solutions that are certified by TRANSEC and are accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, recognised by Bureau Veritas and are a training partner to the International Maritime Organisation. We continue to pride ourselves on going that extra mile for our clients.”
DC Maritime will provide independent advice and Risk Management services to a multitude of diverse maritime customers and deliver accredited ISPS support services and training to both commercial and private maritime markets.
Drum Cussac continues to provide bespoke risk advice for many leading yacht managers and owners in addition to an increasing number of commercial clients.
