Designated Person Service

The ISM Code is being applied to large yachts operating commercially and to some private yachts. Many yacht owners and Captains do not want or require the constraints of being involved with managers and brokers to meet the requirements. To meet this need, Drum Cussac provides a Designated Person Service.

The Service

Operated by experienced master mariners and engineers with detailed knowledge of the Code requirements and with expertise in large yachts, the Designated Person Service provides support to the yacht and enables the ISM requirements to be met without the need for additional staff and major investment. The Captain retains control, enabling the yacht conduct routine operations.

We can provide for:

• The Captain to be the Designated Person with Drum Cussac providing technical support
• Drum Cussac to provide a Designated Person

By using the facility, yachts are able to benefit from standard services for a fixed monthly fee. The standard services enable the yacht to meet the ISM Code requirements.

For those yachts that are seeking additional support, we offer further services to meet the specific needs of each yacht:

• Preparation of a user-friendly safety management system, including a cost effective maintenance system
• Provision of ISM Code awareness, ship safety officer, risk assessment and internal audit training
• Performing and reporting internal audits
• Supply of a continuous technical and emergency support service
• ISPS Code services including security assessment, plan preparation and accredited training
• Competent Authority Service for SSAS monitoring
• Onboard and on call security services
